Haiti, island of pearl, took its freedom two thousand years ago. Since that time nothing has changed. People say that Haiti is paying the price for its own freedom. They think that Haiti was too young and was not ready to manage that kind of freedom or its independence.
Haiti is the first black Republic to be independent. From January 1, 1804 to May 13, 2011 we have had 56 governments, including the new one that will take place this Saturday.
Haitians or people abroad who visit know that its name was the island of pearl. If you had the chance to visit, in your first travel to Haiti by boat, to see the wonderful sight of its mountains, the sky and the color of its sea mix together to give an extraordinary blue color. Haiti was very rich in forests, but now you can see the emptiness of the mountains.
In spite of all its degradations, this land still has some regions with beautiful trees. You can compare some areas in our mountains with Africa and South America. But unfortunately they are not exploitable, because practically of its infrastructure is inaccessible.
Now Haitians are afraid and have no pride to let people know the real name of Haiti, which was the

What do they think about the new Michel Martelly Joseph government?

Haitian people of different classes are ready to give him a chance to govern, because of the way he shows how he is determined to change Haiti, to bring something new to our system of governing, and also because of his devotion to make amends in everything that needs to be changed.

What should the government do about food, water, cholera, and electricity issues?

When you question Haitians about these problems they say it is political problem.
An example: They say we do not have food to feed the population. It is true for the capital city, but if you go to any of our rural areas you

What do you expect from Mychel Joseph Martelly?

If Michel Joseph Martelly respects what he says in his speech during his campaign, we have nothing more to ask him, because he already convinced us.
We should unite our forces to move Haiti from this situation that we put ourselves in, for the two hundred years since our independence. This is what Haitians think about the new governement of Michel Joseph Martelly.

Popular meetings and group dialogues
Popular meetings to get information from the people to present to the government.
Training and teaching
Facilitating scores of group dialogs (100-200 person “People’s Forums” held throughout the island). These brought people from all walks of life into face to face dialog. They realized that, when the dialog was not being controlled by those who wanted separation, people could come to powerful consensus with each other.
