People In Need Partnership Is Moving To Greater Level - Direct Action
My thoughts and work in Haiti are on our new program for the growth and continuation of our partnership programs, as well as our new workshops that we are going to begin in the areas where our partners live, in their communities , homes and family structure. This is a great idea that Geoff and I have been working with our staff on to help the partners and community with tools to do something for themselves. Each month we will have a segment on the topics in their lives. These topics are the twelve topic in their society , which are Food, Health, Info structure, Media, Government, Economics, Culture, Education, Religion, Safety, Legal, Personal and Family.
The meaning of the workshops is to present an alternative to the conventional road to personal success , which is based on the use of power of authority hierarchies, certifications and professions. Haitian partners will participate in a shorter version mini center on the workshops, but still have their regular mini center meetings, those interested in the community that want to be members ( no necessarily partners) will take the full version in our office, for training to be certified teachers for their communities on the segments which we will be covering, the certified teachers will present the workshops in the People In Need Kiosks in their community , and eventually we would like to have these workshops available in libraries and online.
Geoff and I feel that the workshops are the primary way in which People In Need Partnership will be able to act directly in the areas where people in extreme poverty are living. These workshops present the entire process of understanding and action, including background reports, classes with vision and action , skills training and the presentation of direct action possibilities. These workshops are designed to help participants use the full range of their personal resources : time, energy, skills, creativity .
For example; literacy training available to the whole community, ways to recycle, solar purification, showers and bathing types for those in rural or unclean water conditions, help with cholera education, Kroel and English training, nutritional guidelines courses, and additional tools as mentioned to help them be able to something on their own.
During last week and this week , I have been discussing with our staff on the segments, topics and what is needed in each of the four areas; Report, Classes, Skills and Action to have the segments ready for our workshops to start up at once. For the next two or three weeks we will be working on four workshops, Health, Food, Culture and Infostructure. We are almost ready on the Health and working currently on Culture and Food.
I think one we can begin to train the community members and partners, we will have great success with the the certified teachers in the workshops . We are hoping to have a Kiosk set up soon . Everyone global is welcome to join as member if they are wanting to participate in this exciting Direct Action that we are starting .
We are hopeful and excited about the new Direct Action .
Sincerely, Jennifer Johnson

Continuing Forward with Faith
My thoughts and words..
It has been a few months since I have been able to update and inform all of our partners . I had a busy and productive summer, and now I am focusing my energy and time on People in Need Partnership. I met this summer with some wonderful people from Australia , they expressed their interest in Pinp and I explained to them that it is transformation rewarding thing to be involved with a person living in extreme poverty. What a wonderful and inspirational movement for any soul to give , and to see the difference it makes on anothers life.
Why do we ignore the sick, dying, those in extreme poverty, and in need? I have been bothered on this question since I was a small child living in Walla Walla, Washington. A beautiful little town nestled in the state of Washington. The land is very fruitful and great harvest, beautiful land and great resources for natural living. We ate plenty and had natural resources all around us, and while we had everything I kept thinking about others who had nothing or little to survive day to day on. As a small child growing in the changing world, my thoughts were directed to G-d,
I remember praying every night on my knees

It has been almost a month since my return from Haiti. I have been reflecting on my trip and the situations Haiti is facing still. Someone had asked me if I see any changes or does Haiti look better now. Haiti has always had an issue with a infrastructural for the city of over 3 million people. There is still no clean water, or a sewer system for the mass amount of people living in Port au Prince, Haiti. What I saw was many new buildings uprooted , streets cleaned from the rubble from the earth quake disaster and still many confused on what to do or where to go from here. There was always an issue with poverty, slavery and sanitized water sources to drink . Now it seems for the health and well being for the Haitians a crisis has risen from the rubble, as the quick repairs are visual the issue of hunger has risen and the water crisis has ten folded in numbers.
I feel this sharp pain when walking the streets and pathways leading to my destinations. I saw creeks of waste and filth running by my feet as a child leans over to fill her bucket full to bring to her family to wash , drink and use for household. On the other side of the road, children and adults were bathing in it, and up the street a child squatting to go to the bathroom. My stomach turns and my mind could not register this for many hours. It is not humane of us to let this go on in Haiti. We all must take action, not forgetting this huge crisis that Haiti is facing day after day while we have the pleasure to enjoy fresh air, clean water, toilets and showers . These are actually leisure things that each of us outside of a third world take for granted.
With the new president in office on May 14th, 2011 , my hope for Haiti continues and I have been street canvasing , and trying to raise awareness on the health crisis and the over all issue's with sanitation and water for all the Haitian people through my paintings . Soon, some of my art will be auctions for the first time. First time, because usually I give my paintings as gifts to friends and family. I will post photos before they are given for auction. 80 % of the sell of the paintings will go to People in Need Partnership.
Thank you to all of our partners who are making a difference in your partners life and for continuing your faith and support in our organization. We feel may wonderful and exciting things will come for People in Need Partnership this year and we are so thankful for the compassion each of you share for Haiti.

News From Haiti
I arrived into Port Au Prince, Haiti on Monday April 18th to work with the staff on the schedules and staff duties. We have had four meetings so far since my arrival and we feel it will be a great step ahead for People in Need Partnership. Our goal is to structure the schedule and duties so that each staff member is equally responsible for People in Need Partnership. We are going to teach the staff all the new program information and make sure they are informed on all duties. I will teach them how to update schedules, go over details on duties and ensure that everyone is trained in case one of the staff is unable to work for reasons of family or health. We want to make sure that all abroad partners are receiving and responding to messages from their partners, and the Haitian partners are doing the same.
The importance of the messaging is to form a unique relationship with their partner, and form a friendship with them. It is a wonderful way to show that you care for those in need and when I am here I can see this and understand the love the Haitian partners have for their Global partner. It is genuine compassion and understanding . Like two worlds coming together.
Yesterday, the children came to the mini-center from Cite Soleil. The topic was on Transportation and what they want to say to the government of Haiti. One of our partners, Rose Darline, was hit by a stone in Cite Soleil and her friend Wideline said, " I am sad . There was someone from my area , a stone hit her and she went to the hospital right away. " , she continued after a moment, " People were living close to her house fighting between themselves . Rose Darline was sitting at home." Yesterday, Roseline went through surgery on on her head, because the stone pushed her skull inside.
On Citi Soleil, there has been shootings and rocks thrown in each area. The children wish that the police would arrest the criminals who have been fighting, killing and stoning the people in this area. " When the UN arrest the bad guys, the other bad guys will stone the police" ,Haitian partner Kate," it is sad. My neighbor sit down in front of his house. One killed him with a piece of battery. I was inside and saw."
I have walked around Port au Prince and see that half of the tent cities are not there any longer, people are not as scared and have returned home. There is still an issue with food and clean water. Cholera is ever present and many in Cite Soleil have it and others have been sick from bacteria's . The air is much worse then before and you can smell gas, toxic waste and charcoal everywhere.
I will update more news soon. I send greetings to all from Haiti and will update everyone with new information.
In Partnership, Jennifer Johnson
Tomorrow begins the celebration of Easter, it will last all weekend. Last night , many in Port au Prince were singing hymns.. It was so beautiful to hear. We had a storm and it was raining with lightning. I watched for a little while until the power kept going off.
