Holli and Heather,
Just a quick note.
I think what you are doing is wonderful and I am available by email if there is anything I can assist you with.
I just heard that you have arrived in San Domingo, Dominican Republic and wanted to wish you a safe trip through the border.
I hope that you have mosquito repellent and also it would help to buy some garlic at the market or from the side vendor on the streets to take with you.
The bus ride is long and the bathrooms run out of toilet paper. I carried some with me, and lots of hand sanitizer, water and snacks. They might have a movie on the bus.
If you feel like you are in danger or threatened, you can always got to the American Embassy, Airport, UN or Police officer for assistance.
Have a safe trip and God Bless the work you and Heather are doing.
you will be in my thoughts and prayers.
ps. a friendly reminder, do not go out after dark at all. It is not safe to walk around at night. If you feel sick for longer then 2 days, there is a US Air Force hospital , Florida University Hospital , and Red Cross Emergency at the airport. With all the necessary supplies for American Volunteers that become ill.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Johnson, .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
