Cajuste Jean Louis, Haitian Director of People in Need
I was born on July 5, 1976. I am 32 years old. I was born in Bainet (in Southeast Haiti). Bainet is a community near Jacmel. It is undeveloped, with a big river, no electric power, and no pure water, so the people drink from the river. I am married. My wife's name is Hyppolite Lourdes Nadege. She comes from Cap Haitian. My parents are alive. They are living in Bainet. They are farmers, and they grow cows, goats, horses, chickens, corn, peas, and bananas. I have been living in Port au Prince since 1990. I came to continue my studies. When I left Bainet I was in 6th grade. I finished my classical school and my university. I have studied Languages: French, English and Creol. I have studied also Human public. I am an interpreter (translator) and I worked in the Baptist mission as an interpreter beginning in 2004. I also have worked as a teacher in an English course that I created myself. I used to have an organization which was called OFPB (Organizasyon fran peyizan de Bainet). We used to help children who are living in extreme poverty. We gave them food, clothes, and sent them to school. We used to take care of 50 children, but finally they grew up and we stopped giving them help. Now, I am working in PEOPLE IN NEED (NGO) as Haitian Director.
Frankly, I am generous, loving, honest, compassionate, love to share, am easily happy, smile easily, am helpful, agree easily, am courageous, strong, love to work, am respectful, and love everybody: rich, poor, black, white, and any color. I believe in Jesus. I am a Christian. I don't like it when people lie to me. I don't like people to insult me. I love to tell the truth. I like to take advice. I love being corrected by others when I make a mistake. I don't like to be angry. I am patient. I am not ambitious. I don't like to take all for myself. I love to study. I don't like to go to parties, but I visit restaurants regularly. I am peaceful. I love peace. I respect what does not belong to me.
One of my dreams is working in a company where I can help others. I am very happy to be a part of PEOPLE IN NEED (NGO). I remember the first meeting that I have had with the General Director of PEOPLE IN NEED, Geoffrey Bederson. That was very amazing. We have almost the same ideas about creating relationships and partnership. We would like to connect Haitian people with others who are living far away. We are working so hard to make our dreams become a reality. We never become discouraged, and the life of some people is starting to change. They are living in these areas: Cite Soleil, Nan Citron, Jalouzie and Plateau Michel. I am rejoicing because I am working in an organization which is very transparent, and with a staff who is truly devoted to this cause. We truly help and we hope to continue to help people who are living in extreme poverty. In PEOPLE IN NEED, we, the staff, we are working hard to make a difference and to satisfy people who are living in extreme poverty throughout the world. Me, the Haitian Director, I feel well when I see how this is really happening now.
